Existing Skylight Reflashed Instead of Replaced

A Centennial homeowner contacted SkySpec after noticing a leak at the edge of an existing skylight shaft. Inspection showed that the skylight itself could remain in place, allowing the work to focus on renewing the flashing while preserving the surrounding slate roof.

The Project Story

Reflashing an Existing Skylight on a Slate Roof

The homeowner reported water appearing at the edge of the skylight shaft. SkySpec evaluated the existing skylight, its flashing, and the surrounding slate roof.

The skylight itself remained serviceable, so the project focused on renewing the flashing while working carefully around the existing slate roofing rather than replacing the skylight.

How We Handled It

Reflashed the Existing Unit

Retained the existing skylight.

Installed new VELUX EDL flashing while working around the existing slate roof.
